Thursday, January 24th, 2008: Mill Stone

This is a mill stone sitting directly in front of the Grist Mill near the back of the Bank. This sits quite close to another similar looking millstone. The one featured in this photograph is called a ‘runner’ stone. The iron bars protruding out were likely used to mount the stone so that it could be raised and lowered to make contact with the ‘bed’ stone during the milling process.
