188 My Favorite Tree at High Speed - Sunday, July 6th, 2008

Apologies for the blur… I took this picture from the window of my car.  To make matters worse, it was a foggy morning.  Let’s pretend it’s artsy.

There’s something about this tree…  You can see this tree from I95, on your right if you’re traveling northbound just as you pass the exit for Route 332.

Perhaps it’s the shape of the tree… It’s massive and nearly perfectly circular.

Maybe it’s the fact that in it’s seen some massive development in this area within it’s lifetime.

It looks like it was purposefully left alone during construction of the northbound I95 Ramp.

Check out this overhead view from Google maps: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=yardley,+pa&ie=UTF8&ll=40.234208,-74.880686&spn=0.001517,0.003294&t=h&z=19&iwloc=addr

I was glad to see that this beautiful tree survived the construction although I have to say it looks somewhat lonely out there now.

The tree was marked with lots of red caution tape during construction, it was right up against the old ramp. I would guess this was to keep a guy with a bulldozer from knocking it down by mistake when the plan was to keep it.
