About

This site was created by me, Mike Lynn, a local resident and admirer of this charming town. I have the pleasure of working locally and have always enjoyed running and walking around Yardley.

I work for a financial institution and spend my days concentrating on Information Technology. I’ve been an avid web developer and graphic artist for years and I find that my day job benefits immensely when I have a creative outlet. I’ve always enjoyed photography, web programming and spending time in Yardley, so I figured this web site is the perfect blend of all of these things.

Here’s a link to my linkedin page for more information.

About The Site

On January 1st, 2008, I started what will be a 366 (it’s a leap year) day journey. Each day I plan to capture an image using my wife’s Kodak Easy Share Z712 IS Digital Camera and post it along with some thoughts. The subject of my posts will be an image of something in or around Yardley, Pennsylvania.

The header graphics on the front page of the site were created from the daily photographs using VectorMagic from Stanford.edu. This site converts the images from JPEG format to a vector based graphic.

I’m using Wordpress, a content management system (CMS) that’s relatively easy to set up and use.

Wordpress is a great platform for weblogs and especially photoblogs.  It automates most of the process of publishing and there are thousands of plugins that enhance its functionality.  I’m using a number of Plugins  - not least of which is the Yet Another Photo Blog (YAPB) Plugin. This does some nifty formatting and presents the site as a true photoblog. A special thank you to the plugin’s creator Johannes Jarolim. More information on the plugin is available his web site: http://johannes.jarolim.com/blog/wordpress/yet-another-photoblog
