Wolf Spotted in Yardley

When I first saw this creature, I was driving on Delaware Avenue. I saw it just out of the corner of my eye and almost drove off the road. I then saw it a few more times from the opposite direction and realized what I was seeing… pretty effective Goose repellent.

Railroad Bridge Over Delaware River at Dusk

It was just before dusk and the sun was beginning to dip behind the western horizon. I stopped my car to see the show as I’ll often do. Tonight however, was different. I decided not to focus on the actual sunset – the main event… but rather this time I would look the other direction; at the audience. Gazing east, I watched the sun’s brilliant farewell reflected at first in the water and then on the trees of the eastern shore of the river. Standing out in the crowd of onlookers I saw the old railroad bridge that stretches across the Delaware.

The longer I watched, the further the show crept away and the dimmer it got until there was not much more to see than the distant lamps and car headlights punching in for the evening shift.

31 Sunrise on the Delaware – Thursday, January 31st, 2008

This shot of the Delaware River at Sunrise will close out our first month of photographs on Yardley365.com. This was taken just after sunrise from directly under the train bridge on River Road. It’s bizarrely quiet at this time of day and all I’m really hearing is the water, an occasional septa train overhead and a car traveling down river road much faster than needs to be.

I like to think the ducks in the mid ground are on they’re way back from Starbucks after enjoying a double espresso and chatting about how ‘Canada’ Geese are snobs and why can’t they just accept that they’re “Canadian.”

Stay tuned for my next post… which will be the second for today and the first in a monthly series which will contain a retrospective for the prior month. I’ll be posting the images from each daily post – in a unique format. Let me know what you think by leaving a comment – or sending me email.

Thanks!
